kevin to BSB

I honestly think this may also be the most beautiful tweet I have ever seen in my life.

twitter keeps bringing me fantastic news this weekend - BSB FANS, KEVIN IS COMING BACK!!

welcome back, kevin! I am so excited to hear your new album and I can’t wait for you guys to show everyone just what you’re made of. see you out on tour soon and KTBSPA!

…Alright!

apparently this quiz was pretty tricky – I know, there’s just so much goodness to choose from that it’s pretty impossible to pick. but I powered through for the sake of the LohDown, so without further ado, here are the correct answers!

Question 1: Rank my top 5 songs from first favorite to fifth favorite.
1. Drowning
2. Shape of my Heart
3. I Want it That Way
4. As Long as You Love Me
5. Answer to Our Life

I think Drowning is the prettiest song in the world, and Shape of my Heart is a close second. I also love that on that track each of the boys’ voices comes through very distinctly. I Want it That Way is iconic and I can never skip it when it comes up on my itunes or on the radio, no matter how many hundreds of times I must have listened to that song during my lifetime.  As Long as You Love Me brings a smile to my face every single time I hear it and I absolutely love the lyrics.  although it wasn’t a single, I love the song  Answer to Our Life to pieces, and the fact that it’s the only one of their upbeat songs to crack the Top 5 – which is hard to do because the boys are pretty much known for their ballads – is pretty impressive.

Question 2: Rank the BSB from first favorite to fifth favorite.
1. Brian
2. Kevin
3. Howie
4. Nick
5. AJ

I love Brian’s voice and I love the songs on his solo album. he has been my absolute favorite since day one and all the reasons I fell in love with him have not changed - he’s always joking around and making everyone around him laugh and he has a heart of gold that he backs up with his actions. Kevin’s voice is so smooth and so deep, it makes me melt. they both got engaged on the same day and I swear my heart broke a little (a lot) on that valentine’s day. Howie is the sweetest person in every interview, backstage video, or TV appearance I’ve ever seen him in, and he has the cutest wink in the whole world. Nick has grown up with the BSB and I love having been able to hear his voice mature over the years. AJ is a little unpredictable, but it makes it kinda fun and his voice is so unique and distinct.

Question 3: List the correct sequence of times that I have met the BSB.
1. Black and Blue tour (2001)
2. Jingle Jam (2005)
3. KSBJ (2006)
4. NKOTBSB (2011)
5. My wedding (future)

Black and Blue came out in 2000 – can ya’ll believe it’s been a decade?! that concert was the first time I met the BSB, and it was amazing. Jingle Jam was torture because they saved the best for last and throughout the night they kept teasing us with “and later, the BACKSTREET BOYS!” steph and I screamed just as loud every time they said it, to the point where I remember the people sitting in front of us turning around and giving us death stares (like we care) but it was all worth it when they came out to end the show. it was amazing. when Brian came to see us at the KSBJ concert, steph and I got to actually meet him and get his autograph and received a personal shoutout in his concert. it was amazing. most recently, we met up with the boys at the NKOTBSB concert, which I have a detailed recap of posted before this. in short, it was amazing. I am also looking forward to my wedding, which will happen only when a Backstreet Boy proposes, so they will all be there! and it will be amazing.

Question 4: Rank my top 5 albums from first favorite to fifth favorite.
1. Black and Blue
2. Backstreet’s Back
3. Millennium
4. Never Gone
5. This is Us

“Black and Blue” has two of my top 5 songs – Shape of My Heart and Answer to Our Life. “Backstreet’s Back” is actually a their second studio album but was only released in Europe. a slightly different version with songs from both their first and second album was released in the US under the name “Backstreet Boys” and had classics such as As Long As You Love Me and Quit Playing Games With My Heart on it. this album was when they first broke into mainstream US and it  made me so happy to see them get the recognition and success they so deserved. “Millennium” features what I feel is their signautre song, I Want It That Way and another two songs that would make my Top 10 list - The One and Back to Your Heart. when this album came out I fell asleep with it playing on my walkman (pre-ipod!) every single night. Never Gone is the last album with Kevin on it (for now!) and is more jazzy/less pop-ish than their other albums. their most recent album,  This Is Us came out in 2009 and has a bit of a hip-hop feel to it –  they even have a song with T-pain! – but they also stay true to their sound on the album and I love the way it blends.

so how did y’all do? there were 20 questions, so each answer was worth 5 points. and the winner is…

Mariah: 30
Erin: 25
Ch: 25
Steph: 45

steph! she killed on question 3, probably because she present at every single BSB encounter. cyn: I am sorry I apparently wrote you out of existence in Brian’s post, but I most definitely remember you being there, driving with us and spending all day listening to us squeal and giggle like the teenage girls we were/are. I’m so glad you got to be there on the BEST day of my life!

thank you to everyone who played! here’s to many, many more BSB memories to come!
